The funny thing is he never worries what's happening to Laurel while she's on the run. She's a superhero with a team that actually shows up 90% of the time. If anything she's in a better position than him to survive the mess he's uncovering. One epic adventure ending in an extended surgery later, his opinion has not changed. He's positive she's fine physically. The rest? Not so much.

Laurel has lost too many people. He can't make her wait and wonder if she's lost another one. After some begging, Sam brings him his phone, plugs in his headset, and gives Steve privacy as he calls back the burner number he suspects must be hers. He realizes by now Natasha probably updated her, but he needs to do this. He's confident she's alright, but that doesn't mean he is without concern at all.

"Hey." He sounds drowsy and out of it, but he's alive. That's the best any of them can hope for.
