[He raises a brow and asks teasingly,] Even if I told her she had a regal presence?

[She laughs.]

Okay, she might accept that, if it means you're calling her a princess. I can't really see her turning down a chance to be royalty.

[He grins boyishly.] Well she's definitely a princess to me. Maybe I ought to get her one of those crowns for Christmas.

[To go with the gifts he no doubt begged for Laurel to help him pick out.]

If you did, you would make a twelve year-old's Christmas by far, and she may just love you forever.

[So basically, Steve, you should do it and give Thea nice things.]

I mean you had me at making Christmas. Consider it done. [He smiles brightly, enjoying the thought of being able to make her happy considering how much light Thea and Laurel had brought into his life already when he makes the mistake of looking up. Welp.... that's definitely what he thinks it is. He can't believe they managed to hang mistletoe out here.]

Don't look up, Laurel. [He realizes that's the dumbest thing he could have said only after it slips out.]

[Yep, that's pretty much the dumbest thing, because she will immediately do just that, and ... blush a bit at the implications of the above.]

You're right, I shouldn't have looked.

[valuedstrength]

We don't have to. It wouldn't be right to give into pressure. [He insists because he knows he kind of wants to. What's he supposed to do with that?]

[She's hesitant to admit that she kind of wants to too. It's a complicated thing, these feelings that have been growing, but she also knows that eventually she's going to have to move on.

Steve at least feels like a step in the right direction.]

I don't know. I think refusing to kiss under the mistletoe is bad luck.

[She looks back at him, her face indicating that there really is no pressure here if he doesn't want to.]

I think we've both had enough of that, don't you?

[It's that lack of pressure that gets him to relax a little. They both want to do this. What can it hurt? They're friends no matter what. Steve smiles, playing along with her.] I'd say so.

[He leans forward and does his best to ignore the voice in his head reminding him he's never initiated a kiss before. His eyes flutter shut as he leans in the rest of the way for their kiss, soft and unassuming.]

[It's been a while since she's been kissed - and it's especially been a while since she's been kissed like this. There's something about it that just makes her want to sink into it, so she's going to go for it, her arms coming up and winding around his neck as she pulls him closer.]
