Her mouth rivals mine, doesn't it? [If there's nothing bruce isn't used to, i t's putting on a show, smiling and waving through the most awkward of situations. which is what he does as he pulls jessica out through the party and down to where they wait for the valet.

He leans in to whisper to her, something that might look more intimate than it was to the outside eye]

Keep it up.

I had that totally under control.

[She slurs her words as she tries to half-heartedly shove his arm off her. If she really wanted to, she would, but for now she was just playing along.]

She didn't like my dress.

[And there's an overdramatic pout.]

She's just jealous, you shouldn't take it personally.

[He's aware that it's an act, that she could overpower him easily if she wanted to. But for now he begins to tugging her towards the door.]

[And she'll keep up the act, ranting about how the woman didn't know good taste when she saw it until they're in Bruce's car and she collapses back against the seat to laugh.]

Did you see the look on her face?

[An amused grin spreads across his lips as he nods in acknowledgement.]

I did. She was livid. Good show.

[She laughs a bit before tipping her head back and closing her eyes.]

I have to say, jobs for you are never boring.

That's the one nice thing you can say about Gotham -- it always surprises you.

[the surprises are rarely good but it's never boring, she's right about that.]

[She snorts a bit at that.]

I'm sure some people would prefer it surprised them a little less.

Most of us probably would -- but Gotham has always had a mind of her own.

So does Hell's Kitchen.

[It seems to be getting crazier by the day, and as much as Jessica wants to stay out of it, the more and more she doesn't think she can.]

I wonder what it is that draws in people like this.

[and she holds up the flash drive in her hand.]

I'm not sure, there are a lot of things that drive people to crime. Inequality, unhappiness, some people are simply wired the wrong way...

[he takes the hard drive from her.]

It shouldn't take me more than a couple of days to be able to hack this.

I think my question was more how they all manage to wind up in the same place. Whether it's Gotham or Hell's Kitchen, it's like they're all drawn like a magnet.

I don't know the answer to that --- maybe there's a draw to these places that can't be explained with logic or science.

[She shakes her head as she leans back in the seat, and then she looks back at him with a smirk.]

But I have to say, Mr. Wayne, you do know how to show a girl a good time.

[he smirks in return at that.]

I'd hope so, I would hate to think I'm losing my touch.

Where would the next stop normally be on the Bruce Wayne night out?

This is usually around the time I slip into something more comfortable and roam around the streets to see what trouble I can find.

[this is his idea of a joke; he means this is usually the time where he stops being bruce wayne and starts being batman]

[Jessica raises an eyebrow at that, before she shakes her head.]

This is about the time I drink myself to sleep.
