I've never had siblings. Closest I get to that is the pack here.

Me and Laura could be oil and water sometimes, but Cora was like six years younger, so we didn't hit that teenage friction period.

Your baby sister is amazing, though. Everyone here loves her. You could stay too, if you wanted. I'm sure Jeremy wouldn't mind.

I'll stay as long as she does.

[They lost too much time. He's not losing her again.]

About you staying with her or about her staying with us?

Mostly about me. Cora never really committed to Scott, so he's not as worried about her.

She's your family. Surely he worries about her too because of you?

Oh, he absolutely does.

[Scott is a carer.]

I guess it's more that she's not accountable to him.

[That gets a bit of a frown out of her.]

That doesn't sound like much of an alpha. An alpha is accountable for their whole family, even the ones that tend to stay away from home.

Not if the beta doesn't want to be part of their pack. Scott would take her in in a heart beat but that's not what she wants. He's also not about forcing anyone to run with him if they don't want to either.

[Scott's not aggressive like other alphas could be. He doesn't court betas because he doesn't need to. Cora will come when she's ready and Derek supports her in that.]

Scott's not her alpha. He didn't make her. She doesn't owe him anything.

[Elena can't help but give a small smile. That smile brightening a bit at those words.]

That's a bit refreshing, actually. Most alphas would run someone who wasn't a part of their pack out of their city. It's pack or nothing. Be a mutt out in the city and on your own.

Scott's not like that. And his pack isn't all wolves either. There's humans, werecoyotes, a kitsune ... he's very much the type to take in anyone who wants to be there, and not bother anyone who doesn't.
