In this magical alternate reality universe - maybe a future!Hiro went back in time and screwed something up again, this time actually for the better - the children(/grandchildren in Claire's case as she is ... both) of the Company founders rise up against Angela Petrelli the Man, and reclaim it for the actual betterment of powered people everywhere. For the most part, it's working. There are checks. And balances. And rules that people actually follow.

As the narration previously stated, it's a magical place. And in this magical place, Elle and Claire become a badass agent team, tracking powered people and helping to bring them in, showing them that there's a better way than going nuclear and almost destroying the world. (Or zapping them if they refuse to behave - Elle's power comes in handy in times of self-defense. Occasionally that person is Claire, but no partnership is perfect, and it's not like she can feel it.)

Today, their crazy agent adventures have taken them to a place that neither of them expected:

The Bronx Zoo.

Claire frowns up at the sign for a moment, before glancing back at her. "Are you sure this is right?"

The narration apologizes now for the total lack of seriousness in this thread starter.

"Of course it is," Elle snaps, preceding the other blonde through the gates since she apparently wanted to inspect the sign and ask stupid questions. There is a certain pep in Elle's step, as if visiting a zoo just happens to be exactly how she wants to spend her day...

Look, Bob Bishop may be dead but Elle still had a little clout to her name and that translated to having some say in the missions they were handed. Anyone who believed they were random was a moron.

She glances down at her watch, feeling a moment of disquiet. It wasn't broken. "Hurry up!" Her steps pick up a bit as she heads, unerringly, toward the penguin enclosure. It's almost feeding time.

Claire sets her jaw, before turning and following the other girl into the zoo. It's not that she doesn't want to go to the zoo, it's just that she doesn't think that a mission would actually take place here.

But then again, she's the cheerleader. Stranger things have happened.

Dude talks to animals. He hangs out in zoos. Elle doesn't know why they seek out these weirdos, he is certainly not level five material in her opinion, but apparently setting bears on people is considered rude. Who knew.

Regardless, the little blonde isn't even looking for the guy, making a bee line to the railing at the edge of the penguins. She loves penguins. The reason they're here at the height of visitation is because Elle wants to see the penguins leaping and gambling after thrown fish. Then they can hunt down the dog whisperer.

"Oh they're so cute!"

Claire should have known it was about the penguins. She sighs as she follows Elle over to the enclosure, crossing her arms in front of her chests as she does. She knows she looks like a huffy teenager, but that's the problem with not aging. She's always going to look like a huffy teenager.

"They're penguins."

Oh, boo, Elle feels so bad for Claire and her perfect life with her prefect family and her perfect dog and her perfect Daddy. Yeah, look how much Elle gives a crap about how Claire feels about this mission. She spent sixteen years in a prison and now that she's out she's going to live a little.

Claire will just have to deal with it. A little spark of lightning streaks across the metal railing Elle is holding on to. "They're cute." Stop harshing her buzz, Bennet.

Fine. Fine. She will get on your cute animal train. She can't help it because the penguins actually are kind of cute. "Yeah. The cuteness of penguins was never up for debate."

Feeding time starts a second later and Elle suddenly resembles a little kid in a candy shop. It's easy to tell she had a sheltered life because she looks at the penguins with such unabashed excitement. This is the best, this is the coolest, she is the happiest of clams.

Sorry, Claire, you're pretty much on your own mission wise until this is done.

Claire sighs heavily, her eyes doing a compulsory scan of the crowd to try and find the guy they're looking for. When she comes up empty, she makes a face before taking another step forward, one hand coming to land on Elle's shoulder.

"I'm going to check around the corner."
