SHAPESHIFTER SHENANIGANS

This is an inaccurate kitten. But whatever, it works.

Anyway, basically we're going to pretend we're in Chicago and this is going to be a shapeshifter bonanza. Your character doesn't have to be one to participate, but be aware that they're going to have to talk to animals and probably feel a little silly. (You can even say that your character was temporarily turned into an animal for whatever reason too. It's the rift. Make it so.)

This is not limited to BTR characters. If your character is a shapeshifter normally, or you want to get in on the fun, or you just want to react to a particular character being a fawn or a kitten or whatever other creature you can think up, I don't really care, just stick to the following basics:

You are in Chicago. You probably fell through a rift to get there, but you've moved past that by now.

You are a shapeshifter. Or you're dealing with a shapeshifter. In order to shift into your character's animal form, it must have been triggered by some kind of emotional reaction - or possibly a reaction to another shapeshifter.

This is not your favorite thing, and you're feeling very put upon right about now. Tough luck.

Keep track of your clothes. You'll probably need them later. (Unless you're Buffy, in which case you'll just need new ones.)

"Well well. You understand English. Chicago is getting more and more interesting. So... Bird foods. Bread? Crackers? Let's see what we can find."

Moving carefully, not wanting to dislodged the bird as he sought out what would work for her.

Buffy's talons curl out of instinct as they start to move, small nails digging into whatever part of Peter she's attached to and hoping he doesn't mind. Moving attached to someone is even stranger than flying, but she tries to hold on as best she can all the same.

He's been through worse, a lot worse. Least it's not an elephant, though he is thinking about one. He knows there's others in town who can shift, who got that before they came here, or as the rift gifted them, but he wondered now just how many there were.

"So... Planning to find me when you're all human? Wonder if you remember things when you're not an animal," he said, heading for a coffee shop.

Her head bobs a bit in agreement, her wings fluttering at the smell of coffee and baked goods. They are things that are probably terrible for her while she's all sparrow shaped, but they are still things that she enjoys when she's more human shaped. And given that Peter is a friend, there's no reason why she wouldn't track him down in the latter.

Or maybe she's indicating that she does remember. Either way, the answer is yes.

Still he hadn't caught on that this was someone he knew, though that should have occurred to him. After all, she was riding along with him, letting him pet her. Why go to a stranger in this town for that?

At the counter he ordered a blueberry muffin and a latte. Waiting for it, he ignored any looks he might get for the bird before carrying her to the table. He sat down carefully, beginning to start tearing apart the muffin tiny bits.

She waits patiently for him to relinquish which pieces of the muffin we hers, before hopping closer to peck at them from the table. Blueberry is a good choice. It's one of her favorites, actually, even if she probably shouldn't be eating something that processed.

Tearing apart the top, because he's nice like that and she totally gets the top of the muffin. Tearing them into tiny bits, not wanting to risk choking the poor thing as he settled in to nibble a bit himself. "You don't get coffee though," he assured her. "All I need is a high bird."

There's a soft tweet of a whine at that. But - but - coffee. All the same, she understand what she means and just settles for whatever pieces of muffin she can find.

He gave her a look. "Do you know coffee will stunt your growth," he teased her. "Even if you drink it as a human, what if you go all spastic birdie?"

Which didn't stop him from laying a spoon on the table, using a couple of packets of sugar to balance it and then very carefully poured coffee into the spoon. "If you go insane on the caffeine, it's not my fault," he said, laying a piece of muffin beside the spoon.

That comment will be even funnier when he finds out who she is. And yes, she will probably go all spastic birdie, but that's part of the experimentation. She's just going to hop over and start drinking up the coffee, letting the hot liquid slip down her throat.
