set vaguely after 3a, cora didn't leave

[When being on the run for six years means you missed most of your "formative movie years" (Stiles's words, not hers), it becomes your (boy?)friend's responsibility to catch you up on what you've missed. Cora would roll her eyes at the suggestion, but as far as hanging out goes, movies are easy. She's not expected to talk much, unless it's about the movie, and even then, Stiles covers most of that for her.

In this (relationship?) (friendship?) situation, Stiles is still the more verbal of the two. It's probably better that way.

The point of the matter is, Stiles is determined to catch her up on six years of cinematic mastery, in addition to making sure she's seen what he deems "the essentials," and Cora mostly is just sitting cross-legged on his couch with the popcorn, watching as he sorts through the movies to determine what they're watching next and trying to figure out what this is.

(It's probably just friendship. Friendship is good. Cora needs more friends, a lot more friends, but things with Stiles always feel different than hanging out with Scott or Isaac or Lydia. She doesn't entirely know what to make of that.)

She's staring intently into Stiles's shoulders, so lost in her thoughts that she doesn't entirely realize that he's turned around and is asking her a question.]

Sorry, what?

[He doesn't know when this became a regular thing. But it's not just for her. Sure, being a murder mystery group is all cool and Scooby Doo like until the deaths become more and more real. Until it becomes personal. Their own pack has gotten smaller and smaller, and really just sitting down and doing something normal like watching movies is nice. He isn't asking to break her down or talk, because what can he really expect her to say. This is easier. This he can do.

So with his stack of movies, he gives her a look.]

I said you didn't seem to do well will the whole Rom Com genre. Which is cool. I feel like it's a chick flick kinda thing with some Be. Jerry's after a break up. [Awkward looking around.]

Or something. So I brought the Christian Bale Batman movies. Or there's Kick Ass which kind of makes fun of the whole comic book need. And there's a 12 year old girl who kicks ass. But isn't Kick Ass. She's... kind of better.

[He's mostly rambling now both because cultural references that she's probably not going to get, and because the more he stands here and talks the less he has to decide where he's sitting later. And how close. And where to put his hands. Do they cuddle? Will she let him touch her? Are they doing that? Can he do that? Will Derek eat him for it?]

[Do they cuddle? They could. Wolves are pretty tactile as a rule, not that any Hale would ever admit it. Will she let him touch her? Yes, if he wanted to, just to have that bit of contact.

Will Derek eat him for it? Maybe. He's been making pained faces at them hanging out as it is, but Cora's making friends which Derek knows is important. So he'll just have to deal with it.

She makes a face at the mention of Batman. They watched the campy, early Batman movies already and she was not impressed by the genre as a whole. But Kick Ass sounds like it at least has potential, so she eyes the box for a moment, before nodding.]

Sure. Let's do that one.

[stumblingly]

Great. [So he turns back to put the DVD in the player before moving back to sit next to her. Close. He's not sure just where they're taking this, and she can be scary as hell, but being friends with a Hale isn't so... well it's not exactly easy, but he does like her, and while he can never imagine what she's gone through, he knows the importance of friends.

So here goes the cheesy move where the guy stretches his arm and then oh so smoothly puts it around her.

Because Stiles has seen this work. It will work. It will totally--

Oh, hit her in the shoulder, oops.]

[impetere]

[She turns suddenly at the hit against her shoulder, raising an eyebrow as though he was trying to get her attention, but when she catches the angle of his arm and the look on his face, she realizes that probably isn't his intention at all.

Was he ... oh.

She eyes him for a moment, considering, before deciding to take the risk and shifts forward just a little to give him room, as well as a little bit to the left to fit against him more. Do with that what you will, Stiles.]

[stumblingly]

[The fact she hasn't clawed his face off makes him smile. He takes her move as a go ahead to proceed, and this time when his arm goes around her he manages to not hit her. Settling in against her, his smile remains relaxed as he looks down at her. She seems content, and for Stiles that much is a win. That they've kind of reached this point. He does like her. She's a strong girl, and not just because all the werewolf-isms. She's just kind of amazing.]

Comfortable? [Just checking to make sure he hasn't spontaneously grown another appendage out of his elbow and it's digging into her back or anything.]

[impetere]

[Nope. No extra Stiles appendages. She settles in comfortably next to him, soaking in the comfort of someone else being there and nods, resettling the popcorn between them.]

Yep. I'm good.

[stumblingly]

[This is going surprisingly well. Not that he doubted it, they've sort of been having a hang out/ movie night lately. It may be progressing into more, and he's completely fine with that. So when she confirms she's fine, he gives an easy smile before settling back into the couch to get comfortable.]

[impetere]

[So Hit Girl is awesome. Good call, Stiles. She's just going to settle in against him as she watches, and maybe even shift a little bit closer so that her head is resting against his shoulder a bit.

It's more comfortable. Shut up.]

[stumblingly]

[Oh, he's not complaining. At all. Not even a little bit. His smile is a little smug as she leans into him, and he's internally high fiving himself on the movie pick. His hand comes to her shoulder, and Stiles tucks her there, liking how close they're getting as the movie continues to play.]

[impetere]

[Her face falls a bit when they get to the scene where Big Daddy dies, but she swallows and doesn't say anything - something still hit a little too close to home when it comes to the fire.

Having him killed like that, to send a statement, reminds her a bit of her mother.

She misses her mom a lot.

Her head shifts slightly, curling into him a little more unconsciously, without even realizing she's doing it.]

[stumblingly]

[He feels her shift and looks down from the screen. Seeing her reaction, his brow furrows out of concern, and Stiles wraps his arm around her tighter.]

Hey, you okay?

[impetere]

[She glances up at his voice, blinking for a moment, before nodding.]

Yeah, fine. I just ... wasn't expecting that.

[stumblingly]

[He gives a nod. She isn't the best with emotions, but that might just be in part because she's a Hale.]

I probably should have warned. If it makes you feel any better, Hit Girl kinda gets them back. [Without actually spoiling the movie.]

[impetere]

[It is. The fire and the years following pretty much destroyed her ability to process an emotion other than anger like a normal person. But she appreciates Stiles getting it and not making a big deal about it.]

Good. They deserve it.

[stumblingly]

[He holds her a little closer before giving her a reassuring smile, turning his attention back to the movie. The rest of the movie plays on, and like he said Hit Girl and Kick Ass blow the shit out of Red Mist's house. The two of them destroying everything that his father had, brutally killing everything in their way.]

[impetere]

[Okay that was cathartic and satisfying. She is pleased. She waits until the credits roll before nodding.]

That was pretty good.

[stumblingly]

[He's pleased he picked one she liked, smiling widely.]

I thought you'd like it. I wasn't thinking about the whole Hit Girl/ Big Daddy thing though. At least she gets them back. Oh, and there's a sequel, too.

They made a sequel of that?

[She tips her to the side.]

Was it any good?

[stumblingly]

As far as sequels go? Not bad. [Could be terrible.]

You, ugh, you wanna do this again? I can grab it for next time.

[Because he likes this. He really, really likes this.]

[impetere]

[She glances back to him, considering for a moment, before nodding, slowly. She actually doesn't mind hanging out with Stiles compared to he rest of the group. He doesn't treat her like an outlier, which is something she needs after being on her own for so long.]

Sure. Sounds like fun.

[stumblingly]

Yeah, great. Awesome. [Score one for Stilinski.]

I like doing this. Just so you know. [She's terrifying at times, but he also chalks that up to being a Hale in general. Otherwise, just like this, she's calmer and plus with Stiles' extensive movie collection, it's fun to just watch movies.]

[impetere]

[There's a small smile at that, before she nods.]

Yeah. Me too. It's ... fun.

[And she hasn't really had fun in a long time.]

Wasn't sure you had that word in your vocabulary. [He teases with a goofy grin.]
