open post } { pointless shippiness

I really wanted shippy things and didn't feel like combing through memes. So I made a post! Comment to this post with your characters, who you want and an option from the list below, and I will start a thread. Shenanigans will ensue.

OPTIONS:
1 - Fluff
2 - Angst
3 - Crack
4 - Surprise Me!

IF YOU CHOOSE SURPRISE ME, it will probably be crack. Because I'm in that sort of mood.

Muselist is HERE and it's not completely updated, but I'm going to try and do that tonight. You may select SURPRISE for what character you want, but if you do it will likely be a crossover ship of my choosing. I don't really do M/M slash, but M/F and F/F are both fair game. Annnnnnnd that's it.

... Go, fight, win!

A small pack of werewolves falls through a hole in the universe right into Cora Hale's lap.

It's a couple of weeks after Derek leaves to go get their mother's claws back from the Calaveras, leaving her on lockdown because they're searching for a she-wolf and Derek, which in his and Peter's mind means they must mean her. So instead of letting her fight for herself, because they're dumb men, they bury her in a hole in South America (not literally, but figuratively), and go off to try and defend her honor themselves.

Cora thinks it's a stupid plan. No one really listens to her.

(It really sucks because Derek said he wasn't going to leave her again, and then he did. She had family again for all of five minutes and now she's regulated to the role of prized treasure, something to be locked in a vault and hidden away when she's not. She's his sister, and this is her family, and she can fight her battles for herself.)

But that isn't the point. The point is that a few weeks after Derek leaves and there's been no word at all from him, a pile of werewolves fall through a hole in the universe and right into Cora's lap.

Hale werewolves.

They're not Hale-Hales. They're not related to her in any way, but they're stranded in a universe where they don't belong, telling her stories of a world that ended and she's so lonely that she takes the risk and lets them stay. Peter would kill her if he knew, and probably so would Derek, but since they're off "protecting" her instead of being here with her, she can't really bring herself to care.

Besides, they're good people, and they need the help. And Cora? Cora needs more friends. She left all of the ones she could have had behind.

Alek is the one she latches on to the most - he's her age, and there's an anger in him that she understands, and it makes him easier to stick close to. Ethan, Adam, Connor, they're all nice, but there's something about Alek that hooks her and draws her in and almost makes her forget that she was abandoned by her family and left behind again.

Their full moons are rougher than hers, so they let her lock them up in the industrial basement to the Hales' Buenos Aires property, standing watch until the moon passes to make sure they don't get out and hurt anyone. When the sun rises, there's usually breakfast and sleep for everyone but this morning she lingers a little longer at the breakfast table, looking at the other young wolf across from her.

If she had grown up as a normal girl, a girl who hasn't lost everything that mattered to her several times over, she might be better at this. For now, she's just staring and trying to figure out the words as her fork plays with her eggs.

"Is it good?"

She means the food.

The truth is, Alek would eat just about anything right now.

... Food wise.

After a shift of that magnitude, he's ravenous, even if he's also sick to his stomach for different reasons altogether.

He is also having a hard time looking Cora in the eye as he quietly eats those eggs across from her. He never fails to feel oddly vulnerable the day after the full moon, and he's not used to the monster coming out to play anywhere that isn't the Hale manor, where he's underground and locked up in the cell that was made for him. The one miles and miles away from the city and anyone that he could ever hurt, because he knows that he could. Something inside of him isn't right, isn't good, and he's always had trouble reconciling with that part of himself that just wants to draw blood.

Still, he's grateful for Cora, and he knows she didn't have to help, but she did. He's just terrible at putting all of that to words.

"It's good," he assures her, wincing as that comes out more tersely than he meant for it to. "... Thank you."

Words he doesn't say often, but he means them. And not just for the eggs.

There's more to a wolf than that. She knows they're not the same kind of wolf but she wishes that he didn't hate his so much. Hating your wolf never leads to good things, only complications and problems that are hard to get away from. The more you try to suppress it, the more it only hurts you in the end, but she doesn't know how to express that to them without sounding ignorant.

She's not, though. She knows what it's like to lose control, lose yourself, feel nothing but the beast that's waiting inside her to claw it's way through to the outside. She hates that it's something that's been robbed from her, but at least on some level she feels like she can relate.

"Good," she says with a nod, poking at her own plate, unsure of what to say next. She never knows what to say to him after a full moon, but wait for the mood to pass and help them fall back into their normal pattern again. "Eggs are about the only thing I can make."

Alek appreciates she gives him that space, allows the pattern to return to them naturally.

He's never been much of a talker, and verbalizing his feelings is always like pulling teeth. It helps even more she's a werewolf too, even if they aren't exactly the same kind of wolf. She understands better than most what he wrestles with. There just aren't words for everything. Sometimes, there's only understanding.

"My brother's the chef in the family," Alek admits after a moment. He knows better than to talk with his mouth full - his mom did teach him some manners, after all - and he was ravenously eating those eggs. "But he taught me a few things. I can make breakfast tomorrow. What do you like?"

What doesn't she like is probably the better question. Breakfast food is awesome and delicious. She would eat it all three meals a day if she could. But for this she can narrow it down, if for no other reason than for his benefit.

"Pancakes," she says with a nod. She hasn't had pancakes in ages. "Definitely pancakes."
