"So that's why you didn't respond to any of my calls or texts," She says quietly, trying to digest this new truth. She had spent all this time being angry at him -- only to learn he had been a victim of something else the entire time.

"I wish I could have helped you."

[somanyadjectives]

"I wish you could have too. Believe me." He takes a deep breath before shaking his head. "And I'm sorry, that I just dropped off the face of the earth. I didn't intend to, and I never meant to make you think that I was leaving you."

[transferee]

"I did. I thought you had just...decided I wasn't worth the time anymore." She admits, looking down at the ground for a moment. "At first I was really angry -- but then I was mostly just hurt. I didn't have a number for Damon or anyone else, I didn't know how to try to reach you."

[somanyadjectives]

He nods a bit, before taking another step closer. "I'm sorry. I never thought something like this would happen, and I didn't intend to put you in this position."

[transferee]

"I know you didn't -- or I know that now." It's hard to reconcile the months she spent angry and hurt with the reality of the situation -- he didn't disappear because he wanted to. He was captured. Why hadn't she even considered that an option? As a hunter it seems like an oversight now.

"How have you been holding up?"

[somanyadjectives]

He gives a small shrug. "It's ... a work in progress. But I'm glad to be back." He pauses, hesitating for a moment before reaching forward for her hand. "With you, if you'll let me."

[transferee]

Something aches in her chest when he takes her hand. It's hard to forget the months she spent hurt and angry -- but she knows now that he didn't abandon her out of choice. After everything he's been through it would be wrong to turn him away now. After a long silent moment she gives his hand a squeeze.

"Of course. It'd be nice to have you back here."

With me. is the unsaid part.

He smiles softly at that, squeezing her hand gently as he nods. "Good. Because I have a feeling that's what I need, more than anything." Maybe distance from Mystic Falls and going back to where he feels he's supposed to be will give him the chance to make amends and keep the dreams of drowning away.

"What can I do help you?" There's no way she can go back in time to help him when he was drowning all those times, but she's here now, and so is she. There has to be something she can do.

[somanyadjectives]

"Just ... be patient with me?" It's not a huge request, and something he knows she's capable of but that's all he can really say for certain that he needs right now. Patience and time for the flashbacks and nightmares to sublimate out of his system. "And if there's something more than that, I'll let you know. I promise."

[transferee]

"I think I can manage that," She says with a small smile. He's been through a lot -- she knows how hard things can be to work through sometimes. She's had her own experiences with drowning and hallucinations though -- if she can help, she wants to.

[somanyadjectives]

"Good," he says with a small smile, before taking another step closer. "And would it be okay if I kissed you?"

Because that he also missed quite a bit.

[transferee]

She smiles a little in return before nodding.

"I'd like that."

[somanyadjectives]

A wider smile stretches across his face before he steps in closer, cupping her face in his hands and leaning in to kiss her deeply.

[transferee]

She kisses him back, letting her eyes flutter shut as she wraps her arms around his neck.

She had missed this.

He'd missed it as well, and he lets his arms curl around her for a long moment, just holding onto her and savoring it for as long as he can. So many things in his life have been temporary lately - he doesn't want this to be another one.

[transferee]

She doesn't want it to be temporary either especially when she had convinced herself she wouldn't ever hear from him again. And yet here he was. She wanted to savor this for as long as possible.

[somanyadjectives]

He pulls back from the kiss after a moment, brushing his thumb against her chin gently. "Want to go grab dinner? You can catch me up on what's been happening around here?"

[transferee]

She smiles, nodding her head in agreement. "I'd like that. I'm starving."

He nods in agreement before taking her hand, and off they go for a good bite toe eat.
