[Point One: Jane doesn't see this until three days after he sends it because she's in the middle of a huge project and work > her phone, pretty much always.

Point Two: Darcy's changed Thor's name in Jane's phone to Mew Mew and she doesn't entirely put two and two together, and she decides she doesn't have time for this and ignores it for another six hours.

Point Three: It's really, really awkward to get a "sext" from your ex-boyfriend who is a literal god, even if he doesn't actually know what he's doing and she might be a little sad about it too, but he had to go deal with Asgardian things, and she had to go Science and it just ... didn't work.

They agreed to be friends. She's willing to bet this someone else's fault. Since she doesn't know Loki is alive, she's currently blaming Tony Stark.]

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

[There's another pause between texts because she's been focused on changing his name back to "Thor" because texting someone named "Mew Mew" talking about sexting makes it seem like she has some kind of Hello Kitty fetish, thanks Darcy.]

I appreciate you letting me know you have a phone.

[Because she does miss you and think you're pretty and she may worry about you sometimes.]

But "sexting" refers to texts of a sexual nature, not texting from a Samsung phone. Who told you that?

[And then Thor has to bother with neither of those because this is actually going to turn into a phone call. Ring Ring Ring Thor phone.]

Thor is making A Face at his phone because he both wants to speak to Jane because he misses her like crazy and doesn't want to talk to her at all lest he say something horrible and stupid.

Well. Here goes nothing.]

Hi, Jane. You know how to use the phone. That's good. How's it going?

[She hears his voice on the phone and she immediately has regrets, her stomach twisting into knots, because she does miss him. They don't work for so many reasons, but that doesn't mean she doesn't care.

And she wouldn't have called if she didn't.]

I think I have considerably less going on than you right now.

[What with the recently resurrected brother and all.]

Loki's alive? Are you okay?

[That's a Difficult Question because a lot's happened since they last spoke. He has to take a minute to remember exactly where she left off.]

Yeah. More or less. Asgard's gone, because it was the only way to stop my sister I never knew about from destroying all the realms and Loki somehow survived and masqueraded as my father for two years which ultimately led to my father's death which is how Hela got out in the first place. But Loki only actively tried to betray me once and was pretty helpful for the rest of it, so.

I've been worse.

[oh and he only has one eye. BUT IT COULD BE WORSE!!]

Wow. Wow, that's ... wow.

[That's a lot. It's hard to believe that it's either been that long, or that so much has happened in such a short period of time. But then again, things do tend to happen fast when the Avengers are involved.]

I'm so sorry. About your father, about all of it.

[that's really the root of the problem between them isn't it. His life is always changing and the stakes are almost always very high and it's not fair of him to ask her to give up what's important to her because of him.]

It was his time. He was happy to go. Be with Mother. And it's somewhat comforting to know that Loki is actually not the worst of my siblings.

Well ... at least there's that.

[Though Jane isn't really so sure that's comforting, that there's someone worse than Loki out there. She pauses for a moment, before moving into her office and closing the door.]

Are you really doing okay? It sounds like things have been rough.
