[Malia knows that dating can be complicated. She's learned at least that much through her one girlfriend. It's complicated that Stiles was a girl, even though that's a dumb thing to be complicated about. It's complicated that Stiles used to supposedly be obsessed with Lydia, even though they both seem to be over that. Mostly, it was just complicated because Malia was still learning how to be a girl and not a coyote, but Malia doesn't know why that should have impacted things one way or another.

She followed all the ways a coyote would normally find a mate, and yet she's here, sitting alone in her bedroom, trying to figure out what it was she did wrong that Stiles would push her away. She had always told her that she wouldn't judge the bad things she's done. Apparently, Stiles didn't really listen.

Still, when her phone buzzes with a text from Stiles, claiming to miss her, Malia doesn't really know what to do with that information. All she can do is stare at her phone and try not to feel like the odd girl out.]

You're the one who told me to go away.

[Stiles was... well, most would say complicated. Even though she knows that the pack, especially Malia, wouldn't judge on the things that had been done she'd still pushed. A part of her figuring that they were better off without her. Hell, she'd even thought of running away but her dad was the sheriff and he'd have her in cuffs in a heartbeat.

It feels like forever before she gets Malia's text. A text that feels like a punch to her gut. Though, in an odd way, she's sure that she deserved it.]

I know I did.

[There's a pause between texts and she feels like her heart is going to beat out of her chest.]

I was wrong.

[Right. Now she's wrong.

Malia huffs for a moment as she tries to consider her answer, but she isn't really sure what to say. And she isn't sure that this is something where she has to say anything.]

So?

[Sometimes she forgets that Malia was still learning more... human things. So she bites her bottom lip and shakes her head.]

I'm asking for you to give me a second chance, Malia.

[Even if she doesn't exactly expect it.]

[She's quiet again, trying to figure out whether or not that's what she wants, now that she's being given a choice. Part of her says yes, to do it and get back something that makes her happy. But at the same time, she doesn't want to be just pushed away again.]

I was just trying to help.

[She doesn't want to admit it. Doesn't want to say 'hey, great, now I'm crying' even if that's what was happening. The tears clouding her vision but she deserved it. That much she had convinced herself off.]

I know you were and I was wrong to push you away.

[Wrong to push all of them away.]

I thought... I thought that maybe everyone would be better off if I was gone. So I couldn't hurt them again.

[The subject alone is hard.]

I just... I miss you.

[Her face falls slightly at that, and she sighs before she picks up her phone again.]

I miss you too.

[For a moment Stiles isn't sure what to say and can just stare at her phone.]

Did you want...

[She takes in a deep breath and exhales.]

Did you want to give this, us a second chance?

[If not it was okay. Well, it wasn't really okay but she'd understand. She'd be better for the werecoyote.]

[There's another really long pause because while she's feeling angry and rejected, she also really liked Stiles, even now. She sighs and eventually texts back.]

Maybe.

[The longer the text goes unanswered the more Stiles' anxiety starts to ramp up. Then that one word pings her phone and she can only stare at it.]

Maybe is good. I can be better for you, Malia.

[She'd do anything for the other girl.]

Then prove it.

[How? Malia doesn't know exactly. But she thinks it's probably one of those things when she'll know it when she sees it.]

[Which just has Stiles frowning slightly because she wasn't sure how either. Wasn't sure how she could prove to Malia that she'd be better for her. For starters, she knows that she can't push the other away.]

Let me take you out to dinner.

[She considers her options:]

That fancy place that serves venison.

[Fancy place that... She can't help but smile at that.]

I'll call and make reservations for us then.

[Even if she's sure there's a few different places that serve it. But Malia deserved the best.]

Okay. Let me know when and where.

How about tonight and we'll meet up at my place? I'll take you there myself in the jeep.

Okay. I'll see you there.

[She would swear up and down that she wasn't nervous. This was Malia. This was a girl that she'd fallen in love with. She'd made a reservation at a place in LA called The Hart & The Hunter, intending on making the night the best ever for Malia.

So once she's dressed, ready and looking sharp, or her version of sharp, she heads out to pick up Malia.]

[And Malia will be waiting on her porch for him to pull up, still not really sure what to make about any of this, but she's willing to give it a try. She still really wants to be with Stiles, so if this works, then ... this works.]

[When she gets there she can't help but give a little smile, getting out and moving around the jeep to open the passenger side door.]

Ready?

[She nods with a small smile in return.]

Yeah. Let's go.

[Once Malia's in the passenger seat, she slips into the driver's and gets them out on the road. She had every intention of taking the other out to eat and making things right. Fixing what she'd essentially broke.

Something that she hoped would work. After all, she loved Malia with everything that she was.]

[Malia is quiet for most of the drive, not really sure what to make of any of this, but she also loved Stiles, and didn't want this to be the end of them. She just wasn't sure if this is going to make things better or worse.

So silence seems best for now. Stiles will probably start talking eventually.]

[Stiles loved Malia and would do anything for the coyote. It just took losing her to find that out. Something that she really hated. She wasn't meant to find out the hard way. Definitely not like that.

The silence continues on for half of the drive.]

What do you plan on doing later?

[With her life, that was. Not just the here and now.]

[She shrugs because she doesn't actually know the answer to either question.]

My dad said he'd pay for me to travel if I wanted. I don't think he's expecting me to go to college.
