[Cora should probably be in class right now.

And by "probably" she means "absolutely" but she doesn't want to be in school, where she has to pretend to be something she's not, and she especially doesn't want to today, on the anniversary of her entire life going up in smoke.

So she doesn't go. She sneaks up to the roof of the apartment building they live in and just perches on the edge of it, staring out into the abyss of New York City. She figures Laura is going to catch her eventually, it's just a matter of time. But for right now, she's going to enjoy the relative silence while it lasts.]

[Laura puts on a happy face for everyone, especially her siblings. Cora and Derek both are her life now. Kids that she had to raise because the fire took away their whole world. Left them as hollow husks of who they used to be. She misses that closeness. Misses the way that Cora would laugh when Derek did something silly. Missed how grumpy Derek would get when she ruffled his hair. Something she didn't do anymore.

She's trying and sometimes she's not entirely sure that's enough. But she's the Alpha of their little three person pack now. The eldest Hale has to keep their head high and walk that fine line. Make sure to take care of her pack.

Of course she gets the call. The call that tells her Cora didn't go to school. That she missed classes. Classes that, if she remembers right, the other would've liked or did like. Things are becoming a bit of a blur for the elder born wolf.

When she does find her baby sister, she just sits down on the edge near her. For now? She doesn't say a word and lets the silence linger. ]
