I mean, there's really no reason to worry him about it unless this lead ends up panning out, is there?

[She weighs that statement, considering, before nodding.]

I guess not.

[She's not one hundred percent cool with keeping secrets from Peter, but she isn't the one who has to see him every day.]

And if it doesn't pan out, what then? Back to the drawing board?

[She nods, before leaning in to lighten the mood.]

Oh? [ he lets himself be drawn forward a bit as well ] You sound surprised.

[She laughs.]

[ his lips dance up again at that, and rather than respond, his hand loops around her waist and draws her in to a more heady kiss, one that lingers amid the taste of the wine on their tongues ] You and me both.
