Seth leaves the Titty Twister, Kate in the passenger's seat, and just keeps driving. He drives past the road blocks and the rangers, passes through Texas and the midwest, North and North and North until he manages to slide to a stop in a small Western town, with nothing around for miles.

... There doesn't seem to be a lot of people, either. Seth's grief wracked brain will file that away for later. Instead, the car jerks to a stop in front of a bar, and Kate jerks awake, blinking at the surroundings.

"Where are we?"

"Purgatory."

She scowls. "That isn't funny."

Seth turns, blinking for a moment in confusion. "I didn't name the town, sweetheart. Some asshole did almost two hundred years ago."

She squints in return, before sitting up more to peer at the area around them. "There's an actual town called Purgatory?"

"Yeah. Up in the Badlands of Montana." He pats down his clothes, checks his gun to make sure that it's still loaded. "C'mon. We're going to get a drink while I try to track down a friend of mine."

"A friend?"

"She's going to help us lay low until I figure out what we're going to do next."

Kate's expression goes flat. "She?"

He scowls. "It's not like that." She gives him another look. "Okay, it may have been like that, a long time ago, but given her family history, she might actually be kind of useful. You hungry or not because unless you want to wander around and see what else is in this one horse shit hole, I suggest you come in with me for some bar food."

She huffs, then scowls and climbs out of the car to make her way in ahead of him. And that is how Seth Gecko walks into Shorty's, in the company of an eighteen year old girl, looking really fucking shady.

Though that kind of is par for the course for him.

Shorty's is pretty deserted for once. That's because most people have evacuated the town and haven't come back yet. And Doc and Waverly are still....in the Garden of Eden, she supposes. It's weird. Right now it's basically just her and Nedley. She's nursing a glass of whiskey when he makes his way inside.

She snorts, almost like it's funny.

"You have some timing, Gecko."

"This a friend of yours, Wynonna?"

"Among other things."

Nedley sighs. "Why does that make me nervous?"

"Cause you're not as dumb as you look?"

[So sometime in the space between season 4 and season 5 when Freya, Josh, Hayley and Vincent are desperately trying to hold the quarter together by the skin of their teeth, Freya and Hayley are sent to do some friendly negotiating with one of the outskirt covens that have set up shop on the edge of the bayou. The intention was to try and get them to play nice, to come into the agreements that the local groups have drawn up.

They're not saying they're not welcome, they just have to play by the rules.

These conversations are not going well, however, mostly because they resent the fact that someone with the name "Mikaelson" is trying to promote peace, but Freya does her best to bite her tongue, though she's very close to just saying "fuck it" and cutting them off entirely.

But she takes a deep breath and turns to her partner instead.]

Hayley, may I have a word?

Alice Quinn calls and Freya Mikaelson answers.

True, she mostly knew Alice as a niffin, a being that craves knowledge, and sought to know all of her secrets, which Freya was willing to exchange for a favor or two, but the human Alice was also prone to her questions. Lately she's mostly been looking for cloaking spells to keep herself hidden from the Library (which, smart), and asking questions about gods Freya didn't have the information to answer, but this time, she's called her and asked her to come to Brakebills directly, to solve a problem that she can't manage on her own.

So Freya does.

She transports her way to New York, lets herself onto Brakebills by twisting the wards somewhat and finds her way to the physical kids cottage, where the atmosphere inside is almost as depressing as it is outside. She opens the door, glances around at the sad faces for a moment, before raising an eyebrow.

"Maybe it's because I live in New Orleans, but this is a very lazy party, even for a funeral."

Kady ... does not feel like she is supposed to be the one doing this.

In a lot of ways, Penny 23 probably would have been the better candidate, given how much he loved his Julia, but there's a difference between his and this one. A belief of transference won't work. But the belief of someone who has been there since the beginning, who has seen all the ups and downs, who's faith has been tested, even broken ... that's kind of person might be able to do the trick.

So that is why Kady is here, arranging what they need for the ritual, and waiting for Julia to get undressed.

"Are you sure we should be listening to a maenad?" Just ... out of curiosity.

[Jessica Jones knows better than to believe that anything that happens in her life is actually under her own control. Sure, she can make choices, and those choices can change the outcomes of those things, but whether or not she wants it to, bad shit is always going to find her.

That's the choice she made when she decided to be a PI, and even if she doesn't want to deal with something, sometimes she just has to.

Which is why she finds herself sitting in a bar, in the middle of St. Louis, trying to track down a decent drink while she puzzled out this case. Her entire stay here is on her client's dime, which is an expensive price to pay for most of them, but this one seems to be convinced that she's the best person to solve it.

Who is she to say not to that?

She knocks back another drink, before signaling to a bartender for a refill. The place is empty enough that she doesn't think anyone will bother her, but she doesn't consider that the place is empty enough that she might stand out to regulars. Either way, she is there to be bothered all the same.]

Seth glances around before turning back to Wynonna. "Where the fuck are all the people?"

Because that seems to be the most pressing concern over anything else that's been said. Kate rolls her eyes before moving over to the bar to grab herself a drink because whatever she's about to be pulled into, she's not doing it sober. Has she ever gotten drunk before?

No.

Does she look at all old enough to drink?

Also no.

This would be far more entertaining were it not for the fact that Seth was baffled by this turn of events. "You didn't mention that Purgatory has a population of two."

[Incidentally Jessica has found a place where you could score a decent drink. That is why Camille comes here. The drinks are decent without being breaking the bank. It is an easy place to go when she needs to talk to another human being without all the commitment; a nice place to run from demons.

She wonders what brings a superhero here.

Her boss had heard rumblings that the infamous Jessica Jones was in town. He'd even suggested Camille keep a look out for her if she happened to go to the bar this weekend. It's safe to say she never thought she'd actually see the woman when she rolled her eyes and said yes. Now she feels kind of obligated not to be a disappointment for once.

She's going to need more liquor to pull that one off. Camille rises from her back table to head straight to the bar. As usual she's strangely dressed for summer in a long sleeve black top, dark jeans, and matching black boots with a giant messenger bag as company. Her fellow regulars don't seem to care.

She takes a spot at the front, three seats away from Jess. It's close enough to talk, far enough away that she can drink away her potential failure in peace. The bartender brings her the usual whiskey without being prompted even if they are casting a strange glace her way. Camille usually only comes to the front to make bad decisions with men. More power to her for changing it up or at least that's what Camille thinks that look means.

It takes 25% of her drink to ease the worry she'll fuck this up. Camille now has enough liquid courage to realize it truly doesn't matter.]

What brings you to town? [She offers a half-smile. She's had better lines. Sue her.]

Nedley tends to getting Kate a drink because he is still running the bar for Doc, technically. He's pretty sure the girl is underaged but considering the state everything else is in right now, he'll make an exception.

Mostly, he's leaving it to Wynonna to explain how batshit everything is right now.

"It doesn't, normally. But we lost all the revenants and most of the rest of the town evacuated before that, so here we are."

Which doesn't really....explain much but it's a start, at least. Sorry Seth, you chose a weird time to come visiting.

Penny 23 would have happy to do it, but ultimately it felt....less awkward for Julia for it to be someone who knows her. Who has seen her at her best and worst and has still ended up at her side despite all of that. And that person is Kady.

Julia shrugs her shoulders a little as she begins to tug off her shirt.

"Maybe not, but it's the only lead I have, currently"

[Zari isn't entirely sure how she got here. It doesn't seem like the universe is entirely sure what she's doing there either. All she knows is that one minute, Cisco was forcing one of his vibe devices into her hand and the next the world seems to have been turned upside down. She's not sure where she is or what the rules of this new world are, but she knows that she needs to find out real fast.

First things first, find someone who won't mind if she asks some rather insane questions.]

He's starting to get that. Kate on the other hand, will knock back something very hard, hack on it a little bit because she's a good Christian girl and the hardest she's ever really had was beer, before placing it down and speaking with a wheeze.

"What's a revenant?"

Anyone is free to answer that question, and from the quiet look of confusion on Seth's face, he'll wait for Kate's question to be answered to continue, mostly trying to process all of that.

"Guess we'll take what we can get."

She goes over the ingredients again, double checking to make sure that they have everything they need, and once Julia is completely naked, she turns back to face her again, brushing her thumb through some of the mixture and taking a step forward.

"Just ... let me know if you feel anything weird."

Work.

[Jessica tries not to be too brusque. She has a feeling this is the kind of town where unfamiliar assholes stand out more than familiar ones. But she tries to avoid other people as a general rule, so her conversation skills are a bit rusty.]

Looking into a missing person's case.

[Malina should really be sleeping.

It's not that she doesn't want to be, but the aftermath of the castle attacks, she's taken to wandering instead, hoping that she can wear herself out enough that her need to sleep outweighs the anxiety and hypervigilance, so she tries her best to find that, flexing her fingers in front of her and practicing some spell work in the garden, maxing out the spells she has available so she can sleep it off later.

What she doesn't hear are the footsteps coming up behind her, and when she hears a twig snap, she tenses.]

Anybody there?

"Right. I'll let you know."

She tries not to sound awkward about it -- but it is a little inherently awkward. They were good friends. Best bitches, even. But this was territory they've never crossed before.

Nedley is going to poor Kate a glass of water after that hacking and wheezing. Because he's already decided to adopt her. Sorry, Kate.

Wynonna will take the question.

"Demons. Special demons who were once outlaws killed by my great-great-grandpa who kept getting brought back from hell. It's a whole thing. Or was, anyway."

"In all honesty, it's a miracle we managed even this much."

Quentin is dead and nothing is okay. He was the glue that kept everyone together, and now things are becoming even more splintered then ever before. It's why she has to try --

If there's a way to save him, to get him back, she has to try. He did everything to save her when she was niffin, even when she didn't want him to. She owes him at least this much.
