[Work that's important for him to do, and she knows it.]

But I can't say I would mind if you decided to coming home for a little while, just for the holidays. Maybe we can convince Scott and Allison to come home too.

[Maybe bring some of their people, because Melissa knows they're out there.]

I thought about asking Isaac, too. He's come into his own under Allison's wing --

( Voicing that it felt like he'd had another kid, one who was dating his daughter when they all moved to Paris, isn't easy. Especially because both Isaac and Allison are older, wiser, and more mature than even he can be. He still has a problem with taking everything too seriously.

Before he extends the invitation, he'd like to know, though... Did the rift in sophomore year, did it ever thaw enough. Because he doesn't think the three of them should be on their own. If Melissa and him are bringing Allison back, it's only right they ask Isaac... If Scott's okay with it.

He doesn't presume to think grudges have been held over ten years, but there is something to a connection never returning to its' original form. Best, dumb friends torn asunder because of teenage hormones.

Isaac was never his choice for his daughter. Hell, Scott wasn't either. But, all of that's - maybe it's in the past. )

He and Scott ever bury the hatchet?

Oh, long time ago.

[Of that much she's certain. He and Isaac could never really stay angry at each other for too long, and given that in the end Allison chose neither, it made it easy to work things out.]

We can have all three. And whoever else they might decide to bring with them.

[Which is a dangerous prospect, because Melissa doesn't know that with Sam usually comes Dean.]

What do you know?

( Is she dialed in to their kids' love lives more than Chris is? (Yes.) Does she mean Allison? Who is Allison seeing? And why wouldn't she tell him? Probably because of how he's reacting in his mind this second. )

Are Scott or Isaac seeing someone? Someones?

Scott is. He met a woman in New Orleans named Davina, and he seems to be quite smitten.

[He also gave her some hints about Allison possibly seeing someone, but that isn't Melissa's story to tell, so she'll keep it to herself.]

He also thinks Isaac is circling someone, but he can't say for sure.

He makes Isaac sound like a shark.

( That does sound like Isaac, though. )

Well, if we can get them back, then everyone can come. Christmas comes but once a year.

( He is technically pimping out the McCall house but the outfit's money can also pay for any room or board needed. )

New Orleans before the doxxing?

Before Monroe, even. Or at least it seems like they've been talking for a while.

[Melissa doesn't get all the details, mind, but she gets enough.]

In some ways, it's a relief that he still wants to talk to me as much as he does.

[She's certain that most adults don't confide as much in their parents. She certainly didn't.]

( His and Allison's relationship is different. He believes in her, trusts her, and respects her, but she does not discuss her feelings. He thinks because he has shelved that side of her life for a while. If she hasn't, she hasn't let him know and she doesn't have to. He does want her to be happy. That's all he wants. Allison happy and safe. )

Are we lucky because our kids still confide in us?

I like to think so. I know so many parents who just don't hear from their kids anymore.

[It's a gift, and she's not going to waste it.]

But I'm glad that he's growing up and being his own person. And as long as he's happy, I'm happy.

( And Scott. And of course, Allison. But, this is a romantic moment he won't pass up. )
