[Elena and Matt are in a fight. They don't fight often, but when they do they take no prisoners. Elena is currently curled up on the couch, bundled in a blanket and trying not to cry. Because she's not going to cry over a stupid boy like Matt Donavan.

Nope.

Not one bit.]

[ Jenna's staying over for the weekend. Another crazy town event. She tells Miranda she'll take care of it. And if they have to, they'll string Matt Donovan up together. But, for now, she'll just be there for her niece. Miranda will get second shift.

She plops down next to Elena, a tub of ice cream (with two spoons sticking out) in her hand. She holds it out to Elena with a comforting smile. ]

You know, if you cry the calories don't count. [ She checks the tub, reading the ingredients. ] Actually, it might just be, if you're an amazing niece. I always get those subtle stipulations mixed up. [ she pulls out her spoon and takes a bite. ] Do you want to talk about it?

[braveandstupid]

[She grabs the spoon out of the ice cream, before taking a bite.]

I'm just ... I never expected him to act like any other stupid boy. I mean this is Matt.

Rule one of being a girl - hell, of being on Earth. All boys are stupid boys. They're wired that way. What'd he do now?

Matt isn't. Not usually.

[she likes to think that she has better sense than that. She could have chosen a guy like Tyler, but she didn't.]

We had a fight. About something ridiculous.

[gradstudent]

Most fights are.

[ but she's listening ]

I just ... I know I should call him, but I wasn't wrong either. He should be the one calling me.

[a beat as she looks to her aunt for confirmation.]

Right?

I'd say that depends but it doesn't depend. 99% of the time it's their fault. What did he do?

[braveandstupid]

I ... I don't even know anymore. It just got so out of control.

[gradstudent]

What did?

[braveandstupid]

The fight.

Okay. What'd you two fight about? [ she takes a bite of ice cream ]

It started off as ... I think what we were going to do for our anniversary. And then it sort of morphed into something else.

[gradstudent]

It always does. It snowballs. Like a big... festering snowball. One second, you're discussing the spring fling, the next it's Monica again. It's always Monica! [ a beat. ] The trials and tribulations of dating Logan Fell. Continue.

[braveandstupid]

I just don't even know what either of us is supposed to be apologizing for, you know?

[gradstudent]

Well, did he have bad ideas? Because teenage boys suck at romance. And that doesn't really sink in until you're sitting in the back of a van ... doing something completely legal and there's really no story here so, my point is -- it's not worth it being in the fight and he'll probably go up to you tomorrow and you'll kiss and make up. Figuratively.

[braveandstupid]

I hope you're right.

Have I ever steered you wrong?

No. No, you have not.

[gradstudent]

And I'm not, now. So, your brother and your parents are setting up a round of Monopoly. You in?

[She exhales slowly, considering that for a moment before glancing back at the table.]

I call the top hat.

[then she glances down.]

And I'm keeping the ice cream.
