[Allison carefully makes her way towards the door, unsure of whether Derek was even home or not.]

[whether he's been home or not it doesn't matter -- Stefan can feel the barrier at the door from here.]

I'll check around back.

[transferee]

I'll check the front. [ Hopefully, Derek isn't in the house -- if only because that means Stefan won't get stuck outside.]

[He could always goad the guy into inviting him in. But he'll wander around back, keeping his eyes and ears open for anything.]

[There is always that option -- but hopefully it won't come to that. For now Allison tries the door. It's locked.]

[Stefan wanders around back, stopping in the middle of the building and letting her eyes scan out over the woods.]

[Allison digs into her pocket until he pulls out some stuff to start working on picking the lock.]

[Stefan makes his way around the house slowly, coming up the side and peering into one of the windows, looking for movement.]

[She opens the door. She doesn't bother being quiet, if Derek's home, he'd smell right away anyways.]

[He hears her footsteps move into the house and he makes his way around the front, moving towards the door.]

See anything?

[transferee]

[She shakes her head.]

No. I don't.

[somanyadjectives]

Guess they're not here. We'll have to come back later.

[transferee]

I guess so.

[somanyadjectives]

[He glances back at her with a smirk.]

Disappointed?

[transferee]

Yeah, I am. [She's itching for a fight, for revenge, for something to make it hurt less.]

Maybe we could go find something else.

[transferee]

Like what?

There are a lot of other things we can beat the crap out of.

Not as satisfying as Derek would be, but I guess it'll have to do.

[He pauses for a moment, rubbing his hands together.]

Has your dad talked to you about vampires?

[transferee]

[She shakes her head.]

Not really.

[somanyadjectives]

[ ... Time for some education then.]

Okay. Then let's start with the basics.

[because even if this means telling her how to kill him, he's not going to let her start hunting without knowing how to protect herself.]

Vampires are strong and fast like werewolves, but they're not as easy to slow down unless you're using something wooden. Most knives? Wouldn't do a thing. They'll just heal and then snap your neck.

Is there anything else that can weaken them? Like wolfsbane is for wolves?
