elena
alternate beginning to s9/older!hunter!elena
When she gets there and finds out what's really going on, she fights back. Every time Dean rips Sam back from the edge it just manages to make things worse and while she doesn't necessarily have the intimate relationship with Death that the Winchesters do, while losing Sam isn't really an option she likes considering, she doesn't think that giving him transfusions of vampire blood is the best idea.
Especially considering what Sam was trying to do was mystical, they don't know how much damage was done, and they don't know if it would even work. Waking up in transition can be worse than not waking up at all.
But in the end, Dean won't relent, so she does. Caroline provides the blood, a bag a day, and slowly Sam starts to improve. It doesn't fix everything, the way it usually does - somewhere there's magic fighting against magic - but Sam gets better. His vitals go up, he starts to show signs of life more than being just a vegetable, and one day, he opens his eyes.
Elena is there, perched in a chair with a book, and when she sees him move, she smiles despite herself. She pulls the chair forward, her hand finding his on the bed.]
Hey. It's okay, you're in the hospital.

The former meant new enemies. The latter, potential allies.
Max isn't entirely sure what the werewolves are yet.
Derek, at least, is an ally. Of sorts. He makes nice with her because Scott wants him to, and Max can respect that system of leadership. So when Derek calls her and tells her to meet him on a roof, she shows. In a world like this, she doesn't need any new enemies.
She drops down onto the roof next to him, the epitome of her usual cat-like grace, before straightening to her feet and making her way closer.]
'Sup.

So Tamsin is just going to sit there, staring down Dean and Sam Winchester (ugh, even worse, they're famous hunters), trying to decide what she's going to do with them.]
If one more stupid jackass phrase comes out of the loud one's mouth, can I cut his dick off?
[That question is directed more at Bo than Dean, but at least it's guaranteed to get a reaction.]

Lois could have used her own hero connections, gotten herself a lot closer to the story, but in the end she decided to take her own approach.
Stalking.
It wasn't often that she managed to catch him without a work detail, or not working some kind of super mission, but when she could catch him in a cafe or at a bar, she was upfront, honest, and kept things off the record when requested. Soon less and less of what they talked about was on the record, Lois's military experience giving her a bit of a unique perspective most other reporters didn't have.
Soon it was more like they were hanging out. Steve was a gentlemen in her general direction, and she enjoyed flabbergasting him with pop culture references. They were friends. Lois liked him a lot, despite the obvious Boy Scout, written in big letters against his forehead.
Maybe her type was changing. Wouldn't that be news for the General.
This particular outing involved Lois inviting Steve out to a monster truck rally. Because being a part of the world meant enjoying a bit of truck-on-truck action with terrible beer and hot dogs that probably were going to kill her one day. She links her arm in his as they make their way out, flashing him a grin.]
So? What'd you think?
no subject
Not that Dean should have been in Purgatory in the first place, but they can feel him losing the mission, slipping away to a point where they might not be able to drag him back from. There's a black hole that comes with doing the kind of work they do, and someone needs to be the light at the other end of the tunnel.
Or in this case, the bright smile at the other end of the bar.
This isn't like it was with Angel, where she knew him, knew what buttons to press and how to push him forward. Dean is a completely new entity, and while she knew the story, she wasn't really sure if she could play the part.
That isn't going to stop her from trying, though.
She perches at the end of the bar, in an outfit that's all legs and heels, before ordering herself a drink. She can see where he's sitting with his hard liquor, seeing if she can catch his eye.
If all else fails, maybe she'll buy him a drink.]

They are currently doing shots, celebrating their latest victory over the latest evil coming to destroy the Fae and after a long and arduous battle, they deserved these shots, okay? These shots have been earned with the blood of their enemies.
Bo tosses back her glass, licks the salt and sucks down on the lime, cringing with the sour taste.]
Why couldn't we have picked a different kind of shot?

Things are tense with Sammy. He left Dean. The one time they actually listen to the other and it's this. Pisses him off. Makes him angry. They'll get through it though. They got cases and Dean's still standing. That's something. It's enough to make him keep moving.
He's not back completely. Not mentally at least. Sometimes he looks around a place and he counts the exits. It's not that much different than before, but this time he counts the potential targets too. He counts how many things he can turn into a weapon if he needs to. It's getting worse.
She's easy to spot. Dean's always been good at spotting them. He could approach. He could a lot of things. If they did spend the night together then Dean has to explain why he's waking up screaming from nightmares. Or he's gotta explain why he's not sleeping at all. He sucks down the rest of his drink though and puts the glass down. He gets up from the stool and makes his way down to her. Sliding in quietly to take a seat. ] You're not a regular huh? You definitely look too good for this place.

He likes the brunette though. She's hot. Doesn't actively threaten to remove body parts like a mini Hannibal. Wasn't like he was shoving the gun in her face anymore. Everyone here was so damn touchy. ]
For someone so pissed at me you're awful interested in my dick, sweetheart.
[ He smiles because he's pretty sure she's seconds from trying to kill him. He'll go a few rounds if she really wants. Sam hits him in the chest with an open handed slap and gives him a look. ]

It's the first time Steve has ever been stalked. He's been pursued by women when he was doing USO tours, but this is new. This isn't about romance though. Not at first. She wants a story. The reporters flocked to his USO tours. All wanting information on how it happened. They wanted to know the real Steve Rogers. Got old real fast. These days SHIELD tries to keep a tight lid on things they can't control. That means the press. They try to limit it, but they can't be everywhere all the time.
When it starts to drift away from shop talk and more into personal time is when Steve starts to get nervous. He can talk to reporters. It's women he has trouble with. Being a guy a woman is interested in still is kinda new ground for Steve to cover. He tends to clam up and let them do all the talking. Lucky for him she's pretty good at talking. So much so that Steve starts to think that maybe this is something more. He kinda enjoys being around her more than he should. ]
Honestly? It sure was something.
[ He's not sure how to describe monster trucks. It was just how it was described. With that being said he's not sure if he's a huge fan of it. He gets his fill of destruction out in the field. He's not sure how entertaining crashing trucks really is. ]
I loved it.
[ Steve smiles. It means something to her. Obviously it's a big deal to Lois so it's going to be a big deal to Steve. Even if he didn't quite understand the appeal. He'll just have to fake it until he can find the point. ]

Let's just say it takes a really special brand of douchebag to make me want to castrate them, and I want them to have something to remember me by.
[She should really just hang them all on her wall, but that requires living somewhere with ... actual walls. Not in her car.]

It's great for stress relief. Instead of punching my boss's lights out, I can just pretend that she's one of the little tiny cars that After Shock is smashing into tiny pieces.
[Never mind that she ... tends to wind up punching Tess in the face anyway, but that at least isn't over petty work stuff.]
no subject
Waiting for someone, actually. Figured looking here might be worth a shot.
[AND LOOK, SHE FOUND HIM. He just doesn't know it yet.]
no subject
But somehow she finds it in Clark Kent.
He's not her Clark, not by a long shot, and she doesn't tell him that she knows another version of the earnest farm boy, but she lets him keep her company for a drink on occasion as she tries to catch up on he current events of this world. Everything here happened so differently - with Zod, with the invasion - in some ways it isn't better as Metropolis was effectively destroyed, but in others, she didn't get played by a megolmaniac Krpytonian.
So that's something.
Tonight, though, she has a gesture in mind. He's helped her enough. It's time she pays him back. Which is why when he arrives at her apartment for their usual catch-up session, he'll be greeted with the smell of something arguably delicious cooking.]
no subject
Wow, does her taste in men still suck.
She's currently caught in the back alley behind P3, trying to figure out how exactly she's going to get herself out of this one. If she were Paige, she could orb herself out of there, if she were Piper, she could freeze them and escape, but nope, they had to pick on the sister with the less aggressive active powers.
Awesome.
Her hands are held up in a gesture of surrender, before looking at Dean intently.]
Guys, I really think we're just having a misunderstanding.

The holes on the Other Side were getting worse. So much worse, in fact, that people have been falling through the holes. Fringe Division had had no idea if those that were falling through were surviving the process - it's a bit like falling through a black hole, or at least that was the theory - but maybe if Olivia ever gets back again, she can confirm that yes, they do actually survive.
Good to know.
But right now, she has no idea where she is, it's the middle of the night, and she's doing her best to clamp down on the panic that was threatening her calm. She needs a way out. That's going to take time to figure out.
She just hopes she doesn't run into something awful along the way.
She plasters on her best smile, conceals her obvious weapons more cleanly, and starts walking over to the first person she can find to try and get a sense of things, the smile coming easily.]
Hi. Sorry to bother you, but I think I've gotten a little turned around. Do you know what street this is?
no subject
Unfortunately, she's here because she has a dead active, a body to claim, and an explanation to give this new police division that seems to not want to release the remains. She reaches the front desk with a demure smile, Victor on her left to protect her if need be.]
Hello, I'm looking for a ... Steve McGarrett?
no subject
What are you doing here?
no subject
No, she's not actually injured.
She's escorting an almost vampire victim there, wanting them to get stitched up before they bleed out completely. She doesn't plan on going anywhere until she gets word that she's going to be okay. Never mind that there's something that's nagging at her about this hospital. She stays where she is, pacing in the lobby and hopes that she didn't just hand her over into something awful.]

Control issues.
Least that's what Danny calls them. Kono is the one to intercept the duo at the desk downstairs. She checks credentials and leads them up to the office. She knocks on Steve's window and cracks open his door. Once she explains he waves them in.
Right now he's the picture of smug sitting at his desk. He knows what's happening. Someone's trying to strong arm him. ]
You guys must really want this body.
no subject
Being awesome.
[ He smiles and Sam elbows him. He grunts and smooths down the front of his suit. The smugness fades. ]
Investigating. And you?
no subject
There's something mentally wrong with you.
[ She's got serious impulse control issues. Which is pot calling the kettle black really. Dean has the exact same problem. ]
Why're you so pissed?
no subject
If there's one thing that Dean hates most in the world it's witches. Spewing bodily fluids and all those spells. It was just a bad road. A whole bunch of bad mojo. Riles him up beyond anything else.
Sam actually clocks Phoebe. Dean's too busy staring at her ass and how she moves to really clock anything. Sam puts it together though. Dean's fresh from Hell and he really isn't sure what he's thinking about. He's got a set of angels up his ass and Sam's acting like a psycho. Witches.
He looks upset, but he's still got his gun trained on her. ]
You're still a witch. Kinda hard to misunderstand that.
no subject
The world knows Kal-El. They don't really know Clark Kent though. When she looks at him he's not sure who she actually sees. He doesn't really press her too much for answers though. Sometimes she doesn't want to give them and Clark understands that. Sometimes he doesn't want to either.
The smell is intriguing. It's different. He's not sure why she's suddenly decided to cook, but it's nice. He doesn't make a joke or really comment too much. ] It smells good. [ He's not sure what brought this on, but he's not going to make a big deal about it. He's pretty sure she wouldn't like that.
He sheds his jacket to hang on the hook. ] Perry sends his hellos. I think he's fond of you.
no subject
He prays she doesn't know what she's gotten herself into. Playing good Samaritan in this town is dangerous enough without it being linked to vampires. If they find out who did this then they're sure to retaliate if they feel at all threatened by her.
Aidan comes out to speak to her and smiles wide. He wants to reassure her if she's worried about the woman. ] She'll be fine. Little banged up, but she's gonna live to see another day. Thanks to you.
no subject
I was just trying to help.
[Or just doing her job. Whichever is more appropriate for the moment.]
But you're sure she's gonna be okay?
no subject
He's an interesting man. Certainly ... says what he means.
[She can appreciate that in a guy.]
no subject
Baby Fae here may not remember what it's like when the world knew we were out there but I do. And I really, really don't like hunters. Especially hunters famous enough that beings more powerful than me are shitting themselves over you being around.
[Her tone indicates that she thinks it's ridiculous. They didn't really seem like much. She could probably - literally - eat them for breakfast.]
I gotta say - seeing you in person is actually a little disappointing.
no subject
[Not that she expects that to mean anything to him but she's hoping against hope that it does.]
I'm Glinda, not the Wicked Witch.
no subject
I represent the interests of your victim's family. Holding the body like this is impeding their ability to lay her to rest properly.
no subject
You're not on this case. We still haven't gotten the all clear from your superior.
no subject
[ He sighs heavily. He'll have to take a moment to call Bobby once he finishes up in the morgue. Sometimes certain covers fall through the cracks when you got one guy pretending to be the heads of multiple law enforcement agencies. ]
I'm doing my job though. If you're nice I'll let ya stay.
[ Another nudge from Sam and his smile fades. ]
no subject
[ Can you tell he's bitter and has a huge chip on his shoulder concerning witches? ]
I've dealt with a lot of witches in my time and they all turn out to such the big one, lady.
no subject
[ Sam reaches out and gives Dean a solid smack to the shoulder. He's playing with fire by pissing her off and Sam knows that. Sam's smarter. He prefers finesse whereas Dean is all mouth and irritation. Dean thinks Sam's method is stupid and just not worth it. ]
Yeah well I'm bettin' you're not a natural blonde. We all have disappointments in life, lady.
no subject
Kid, you are a literal smorgasbord of doubt and paranoia. As far as I'm concerned, you're an all-you-can-eat buffet, and I don't even have to touch you to do it.
[She grins.]
Wanna see?
["Tamsin!" comes from Bo, and Tamsin rolls her eyes.]
What, it could be fun.
no subject
Bodily fluids? What kind of horror show do you live in?
no subject
But Kate would also rather be on the case than not at all.]
Fine. What have we got?
