1. Pick one of yours.
2. Pick one of mine or ask me to surprise you.
3. Pick a starter. (You can also ask me to surprise you here too, and I'll RNG it.)
4. Profit.

surprise me
i'm winging it
[Lydia Martin, math genius and occasional banshee, is almost disappointed that the hot adjunct professor who happened to be filling in for one of her colleagues isn't exactly who he said he was, but she's not exactly surprised either. Part of her thinks she should have probably had Stiles run his name when she first met him, but she's trying to move on from her ex-boyfriend, not become him.
All things considered, Nate having magic metal powers is not the most shocking thing he could have done to her. She's honestly dealt with worse.]
I'm going to guess that "Legend" isn't some kind of euphemism?
i love it
[in this version of things, nate is investigating some weird magical activity in beacon hills while acting like a history professor. a long term job with the time bureau like this has been a welcome distraction for him from....everything else.
he's trying to move on too.
he's also been trying to keep a low profile but...well....so much for that.]
It's the name my teammates and I call one another -- we're time travelers.

[Beacon Hills usually falls under magical creatures umbrella, rather than the time travel one. But Lydia also doesn't seem surprised or bothered by the concept because, you know, werewolves are real. Why not time travel?]
So why are you poking around Beacon Hills?
no subject
[she's taking it surprisingly well, after all.]
We think one of the creatures we accidentally set loose ended up here.
no subject
[That being said, however, the word "creature" gets her attention, because Beacon Hills has all kinds of creatures, but the words "set loose" soon after means that it's probably not a nice creature.
They were doing so well, post-Monroe. Things had been so quiet. There's an obvious shift from her curious face to her business face.]
What kind of creature are we talking about? Werewolf? Kanima? ... Please tell me it wasn't a beserker.
[Hayden is still out of town, so their closest friend with Nagual tendencies is going to be hard to get a hold of.]

At the same time, Scott's not the lost dumb puppy he used to be.
At the same time ... Liam.
She huffs a breath to pull out her phone to text him, before gesturing for Nate to follow her.]
Come on. I have a hunch where we can find her.
no subject
[this is her turf, after all. ]

Since Beacon Hills is pretty landlocked, I'm guessing they're able to survive on land?

[And she diverts off towards the preserve heading away from the populated areas of Beacon Hills.]
I let the local alpha know. He's probably going to meet us there.
[Both to try and make peace and protect Lydia if needed - not that Lydia needs much protecting these days.]

[and if there's anything he's learned from talking to mona it's that not all shapeshifters and creatures are inherently bad.]

So what are you going to do with her when you find her?
no subject

And if you take her back to the bureau, what will happen there?

That kind of sounds a bit like a zoo.

Ever think about just ... letting them live their lives like they're actual people?

But she says nothing else as she pulls up to one of the small side parking lots for the preserve, and sees Scott climbing off his motorcycle. He waves to Lydia, and she waves in return. She doesn't know what Nate was expecting when it came to the True Alpha of Beacon Hills, but it probably wasn't a guy wearing a lacrosse coach polo and windbreaker.]
That's Scott.
no subject
after all, he once thought unicorns were magical.
he holds his hand out to scott once the other man has approached them.]
Hey Scott, I'm Nate

Lydia nods as she catches up, currently gathering her long hair away from her face, since they're going to be walking in the woods.]
I think she probably headed towards the nematon.
