First of all, I need you tell me anything you can about this creature -- the more I know the easier it's going to be to try to cast a spell to track it down.

It was very large. And very hairy.

[That's all she really got, visually speaking, because it proceeded to smack her in the face hard, but she is the Legend that got the closest.]

He kind of smelled like saltwater though.

So we're dealing with some sort of hairy sea monster -- that's a new one.

[but not the weirdest thing she's heard of or seen.]

I've learned that most monsters that we're going to come up against are not what we expected.

[julia flinches a little, she can't help but remember, briefly, how reynard ate the hearts of her friends.]

No, but it doesn't surprise me.

[She frowns when that glib comment isn't met with the revulsion it usually is, but she doesn't push, just shifts the way she's sitting to take things a little more seriously.]

Anyway. I've been doing some research into selkies and kelpies and all kinds of water creatures but I haven't found anything that matches up enough.

Maybe you could show me where you left off? Maybe theres an angle you haven't looked at yet.

[And she'll get up to lead Julia towards the library where they had had their magical creatures texts spread out.]

And, I mean, there's always a chance that they've been misrepresented. We've found that happens a lot too.

That doesn't surprise me either -- a lot of time what's been written and what's true can be two very different things.

[She nods, before gesturing to all the books they have at their disposal. She doesn't think she has to elaborate on what to do with the books, so she brings up another topic of conversation instead.]

So how did you and Constantine meet anyway?

[julia starts looking through the books, glancing up when zari shifts the topic.]

I was trying to kill a God -- he came up as a potential resource for that kind of information.

[Her eyebrows go up a bit at that, because what?]

... Gods can be killed?

[hedgebitch]

They can -- but it comes with consequences. We got magic shut off for a while when we killed one.

Huh.

[Not that she's gunning to kill any gods anytime soon, but it's good to know that it might not be the wisest choice.]

Never actually met one. Did take down a time demon once though.

You're not missing much -- they're pretty much all assholes -- though I guess Bacchus was pretty okay. The worst thing he ever did really was get banned off Instagram for showing his nipples.

I gotta admit, the research is my least favorite part.

I'd rather be doing something. If my hands are idle for too long, I start to go a little crazy.
