[Tyler has to leave Mystic Falls after the massacre. The house has too many memories of his pack, and his mother, and slowly watching Caroline fall for the man who did this all to him? Well, it's more than he can take. So he leaves. It's not the first time he has.

But this time, he's not sure if he's coming back.

He drives and drives and drives until he just can't anymore and somehow, he ends up in Storybrooke. He's sipping a cup of coffee mostly for the warmth it brings, trying to figure out his next plans, if any.

It surprises him when he hears her speak. He's not as aware of his surroundings as he ought to be. ]

That's because I just got in tonight.

We don't really get a lot of visitors. We're pretty out of the way.

[There's something about him. And never let it be said that she's not willing to chat up the problem cases.]

Just passing through?

[lockwood]

Something like that. To be honest? I was just driving and kind of ended up here.

[failwithflair]

Well -- in that case, welcome to Storybrooke.

[she reaches across the counter and extends a hand to him.]

I'm Ruby.

[lockwood]

[He takes her hand, shaking it.] Tyler

[failwithflair]

If you're going to stay the night --

[which you should, those woods are dangerous]

-- Granny runs a B&B. We could get you a room.

[lockwood]

That might be a good idea. [He's not sure he can drive more tonight.]

[failwithflair]

I'll see what she's got open. Can I get you anything else while you wait?

[lockwood]

Coffee would be good.

[failwithflair]

[She turns behind her to grab a fresh pot.]

I'll go see what Granny has available for rooms. You need anything else, let me know.

[lockwood]

Will do. [The coffee's good for now though, it'll help warm him up.]

[failwithflair]

[She bustles off to deal with a few other customers and grab the key to the room from Granny before making her way back again.]

Room 8 is all yours.

[lockwood]

Thanks. I appreciate it.

[failwithflair]

No problem. You're welcome to stay as long as you like.

[because sometimes pit stops need to be longer than one night.]

[lockwood]

I probably won't be more than a night or two. [Staying too long just makes the town a target for Klaus, at this point.]

[failwithflair]

[Ruby nods again.]

Stay as long as you need.

[They can protect themselves. So long as you give them notice of what they're protecting themselves from.]

[lockwood]

How much do rooms cost? [He has plenty of money, so that's not an issue, at least.]

[failwithflair]

[rambles off a rate]

But if that's out of your price range we can work something out.

[lockwood]

No, that's fine. Money's not really an issue.

[failwithflair]

That's what every waitress loves to hear.

[whether or not she's teasing or hankering for a tip it's hard to tell. it's probably both. Also, it's a slow night, so prepare for her to bug you some more.]

So where are you from?

[lockwood]

Mystic Falls, a little town up in Virginia. [And he'll probably tip well, no reason not to.]

[She shakes her head.]

Never heard of it. Then again, we don't really get out much.

[lockwood]

It's not surprising, it's a small town.
