[She glances up at the sight of a guy leaning into her line of vision, and startles. Startles so much that her arm elbow comes up hard and may hit Alex in the nose.]

[ he flies back - only slightly - bringing a hand to his nose. nothing broken. the impact just rattles him. he brings the back of his hand to his nose, he sniffs. everything's in working order. he tilts his head back. okay. now that that's been attended to. he'll look back down. ]

Uh, sorry I - really didn't mean to startle you. I didn't see your headphones. Are you okay?

[ Alex, you're the one who was hit, but sure ask if the hot girl is okay. ]

[She'll start talking over him as he starts because those headphones are still in, and she's not really looking at him directly.]

Oh my God don't do that. You can't just sneak up on someone like that -- you're pretty much asking to get punched in the ...

[oh wait. he's talking. Hold on. She yanks out the headphones]

I'm sorry. You scared the fuck out of me.

[ he'll stop talking as soon as he realizes she can't hear him. he holds his hands up in front of him. ]

[She sighs, letting some of the tension slip before nodding.]

She's in a meeting but she'll be out in - ten minutes?

[ truthfully, he doesn't know the exact time frame. some last longer then others. ]

Can I get you anything?

[ another face to elbow? ]

[She shakes her head sheepishly.]

No, I'm good. I'm just waiting.

I'm her editor. Alex Thomas. If you do need anything, just ask Vivian. There's water and coffee available. Bagels, too, but that would spoil your lunch, wouldn't it?

[she nods a bit, before going to put her headphones back in her ears.]

[ he smirks. nods to Vivian and then heads back in to do his work.

about an hour or so later, he's emerged and is handing Vivian some folders. ]

[And now Kayla's starting to get a little annoyed.]

Is Savannah still in that meeting?

[ he starts off then backs up. ]

[ but he knows the answer and marches forward again. he finds the photographers, layout, and his boss. oh. that's fun. savannah remembers she has lunch. crap. and floats the funniest idea. and insists alex can have two lunches. he has boy metabolism. his superior asks if he got that one thing done. he's alex so he got it done yesterday. he waves him off.

But, I have some free time. Suddenly. I was told to put it on the paper's dime. Celeste is - well, frivolous with everything just... yeah, that's how to describe her. [ not that she asked. ] Interested in lunch with Savannah's editor? Now, I'm not as loud and I don't wear dresses - but she did get me into ... what is it, Project Runway? And The Biggest Loser. [ a shrug. ] Or, I can be a mime and you can have lunch with a mime. Because I have really overshot my talking quota for the day. [ beat. ] It would probably be creepy eating lunch with a mime, wouldn't it?

[She raises an eyebrow at all of that and she isn't really sure what's going on, but she's starving. So you know what? She will take that lunch she doesn't have to pay for.]

Let's go. I'm about to eat my foot.

[ but, he waits for her to stand and get her things and then they'll head to the elevator. ]
