I know. [His voice doesn't quite waver, though it does get quieter.] Better than most.

But it'll take more than a superpowered bully to put her down.

[She raises and eyebrow.]

The Salvatores precious little witch won't give you one?

She's a bit biased against vampires. [Not that Spike blames her. He just wishes she acknowledged Spike's different.]

[She can't deny that kind of leverage. She pauses, considering for a moment, before shrugging.]

I know a witch who can do it for you. No bet needed.

Yeah? [He raises an eyebrow.] Simply out of the goodness of your heart?

[She shrugs.]

I know the value of making friends. And unlike the Salvatores, I know how to share.

From what I've heard, those two do a bit too much sharing.

[But really now.]

Why do I get the feeling our definitions of friendship are different?

[withnoheart]

It's possible. But I think that a relationship where we both benefit can't be a bad thing. Don't you?

[bigbad]

Depends how much you benefiting means other people dying.

[she holds up two fingers.]

Blood bags only. Scout's honor. But if I'm doing all these things for you, what are you going to do for me?

Knew there'd be a catch. [He gives her an indulgent look nonetheless.] What is it you want?

Your Slayer kept off my back. I don't want to use my considerable influence to get you what you want only to find a stake in my back.

[bigbad]

[He gave her an appraising look. The fact was, it would be pretty easy to convince Buffy not to kill Katherine now. Buffy, for all her tough Slayerness, was pretty soft on the undead once she got to know them as actual people. It was the only reason Spike had lasted as long as he had. Which wasn't to say Katherine would be safe if she started massacring, but... Spike would rather never see the sun than start allowing massacres.]

Fine. So long as you stick to bags and don't kill anyone, she'll leave you alone.

[withnoheart]

[Katherine doesn't really care about Buffy's soft spots. She just wants to stay alive, and if she can use Spike to do it, she will.]
