I guess not. I think he likes living with the guilt.

[oh, does Stefan know how that goes.]

What happened here?

[transferee]

His family was murdered in a fire. [She pauses before adding.] One my Aunt Kate started

[somanyadjectives]

[He pauses, glancing over at her.]

And now you're hunting him?

[transferee]

He killed my mother. [It's different. What Kate did -- it was out of line, she gets that but her mother is dead. Derek bit her and she's dead and she can't just not do something about it. It hurts too much not to do something.]

[Stefan watches her for a moment before nodding.]

Okay. Let's see if he's home.

[transferee]

[She nods, opening the door to get open.]

[Stefan climbs out of the car as well, keeping his eyes and ears open for anything suspicious.]

[transferee]

[Allison carefully makes her way towards the door, unsure of whether Derek was even home or not.]

[somanyadjectives]

[whether he's been home or not it doesn't matter -- Stefan can feel the barrier at the door from here.]

I'll check around back.

[transferee]

I'll check the front. [ Hopefully, Derek isn't in the house -- if only because that means Stefan won't get stuck outside.]

[He could always goad the guy into inviting him in. But he'll wander around back, keeping his eyes and ears open for anything.]

[transferee]

[There is always that option -- but hopefully it won't come to that. For now Allison tries the door. It's locked.]

[somanyadjectives]

[Stefan wanders around back, stopping in the middle of the building and letting her eyes scan out over the woods.]

[transferee]

[Allison digs into her pocket until he pulls out some stuff to start working on picking the lock.]

[somanyadjectives]

[Stefan makes his way around the house slowly, coming up the side and peering into one of the windows, looking for movement.]

[transferee]

[She opens the door. She doesn't bother being quiet, if Derek's home, he'd smell right away anyways.]

[somanyadjectives]

[He hears her footsteps move into the house and he makes his way around the front, moving towards the door.]

See anything?

[transferee]

[She shakes her head.]

No. I don't.

[somanyadjectives]

Guess they're not here. We'll have to come back later.

[transferee]

I guess so.

[somanyadjectives]

[He glances back at her with a smirk.]

Disappointed?

[transferee]

Yeah, I am. [She's itching for a fight, for revenge, for something to make it hurt less.]

[somanyadjectives]

Maybe we could go find something else.

[transferee]

Like what?
