Coming to New Orleans personally hadn't been her first choice, by any means, but bringing Bonnie home was important. Okay, bringing Damon home was too, at least for Elena, but Caroline was more focused on Bonnie.

And the witches she'd talked to had mentioned things about the witches in New Orleans although contact information hadn't exactly been easy to come by. So she finally decided to head down for a weekend, see what she could dig up.

Without contacting known resources in New Orleans for various reasons. The city itself is one she's been curious about for a while anyway, so a little exploring can't hurt while she's around.

Coffee is a necessity though, and one of her first stops on the second day is to snag a cup before she wanders into the Quarter proper.

There aren't a lot of vampires in the Quarter these days.

It's not that she minds when there are - she's no going to war with the werewolves or picking sides, but she still cares for Marcel and wants him to be protected. But this is a vampire she doesn't know, a day walker she hadn't made the daylight ring for, and part of her can't help but wonder where the girl got it.

The other part can't let an innocent person get taken out by vengeful werewolves, even if it's not her business.

As she comes up behind her in the coffee shop, she takes a deep breath, then steps forward to rest a hand on her shoulder. "You really shouldn't be here."

[insistent]

She turns before the girl makes contact, glancing up at her for a moment before she sets her almost empty cup down. Caroline lifts a shoulder in a slight shrug. She could hear that the girl was human, although that didn't mean she wasn't potentially a threat and when Caroline shifted to stand, she turned to face her.

"It wasn't my first choice of destination, either." So much not, because the last thing she needed was Klaus finding out she was here.

"But, I have a reason to be here."

[regentem]

"That may be so. But I really don't think the Crescent Wolves will care."

It's not that she's trying to scare her away or make herself a threat. She's trying to issue a warning more than anything else and vampires aren't safe on the streets of the Quarter. They're better off in the boundary of the Treme coven's territory across the river. She pauses, before shifting to lean closer.

"They've been taking out whatever vampires in the quarter they can find. And they have moonlight rings, so they don't need the full moon to be dangerous."

[insistent]

Okay, that has her relaxing a little since the girl clearly has knowledge of the supernatural.

"Can Klaus go anywhere without starting a freaking war?" It slips out before she can stop it and Caroline sighs.

"Okay, so where do I go to find the witches, then? Because that's why I'm here to begin with." Caroline's attention shifts back to the girl before she adds, almost as an afterthought. "...And if you actually know Klaus, please don't tell him I'm here."

[regentem]

Her mouth works for a moment, because that's not an easy question either. "The witches of the French Quarter are the ones controlling the werewolves. I don't think you're going to find a lot of help there."

Sorry, again, Caroline. But any enemy of Klaus is a friend as far as Davina is concerned. Maybe this might be worth sticking her neck out for.

"But maybe I can help." She pauses before sticking out her hand. "I'm Davina Claire. I used to be part of their coven before they started going crazy."

[insistent]

"Seriously?!" So she's basically wasted a trip or at least until the other girl speaks again and then Caroline eyes her with more interest before reaching to shake her hand.

"Yeah, I could use the help. I've got a problem that's basically ... well it's kind of witch business?" Caroline falls quiet for a moment glancing around.

"Maybe somewhere less public. Oh, and I'm Caroline Forbes."

[regentem]

Davina nods for a moment, before gesturing over her shoulder for Caroline to follow her. There aren't a whole lot of safe places in New Orleans, but she still has a few that she calls her own.

"I know just the place. Come with me."

[insistent]

Caroline hesitates for a moment before sending off a quick text that if she disappears, to look for someone named Davina Claire and then follows the witch out of the coffee shop. Better to at least have someone know where to look for if this whole thing does go south.

"...So, how long has this been going on, anyway? The whole werewolves and witches thing?"

Freya (or Davina)

[There were a lot of things that have changed quickly in the hundred years that Freya had been asleep, and food was not exempt from those changes. Once things with Dahlia had quieted and she has more of an opportunity to relax and spend time with her sister, they begin a ritual of getting a different kind of new food to enjoy and spend some time teaching Rebekah her magic.

Pizza, however, is a pleasant surprise. The first time Freya takes a bite of it, she can't help but light up at the taste.]

This is pizza?

[The look on her face has Rebekah stifling a laugh before she manages a nod. It's not laughing at Freya as much just enjoying see her sister react to the things she's missed in her time asleep. ]

Wait until you try the cheesecake I have in the fridge. Food's come quite a ways since the 20s and 30s.

[deathlessness]

I'll say.

[she moves to take another bite, before leaning back into her seat.]

I tried pizza briefly, when I was awake in 1912. It certainly didn't taste like this.

[ Rebekah snags her glass, taking a drink before picking up a slice for herself. ]

It's definitely come a long way, but so have a lot of things. You saw the television back at the asylum. We should pick up a flat screen so you can get the real experience. I got some movie recs from Josh that he swears are must watch.

I can only imagine. Everything just seems so much ... brighter and more vibrant. I can't tell sometimes if it's meant to be more of a distraction or meant to make them feel more alive.

[Not to say she's unwilling, but she's certainly not a technology addict like the rest of the world.]

Honestly? It kind of fades into the background after a first few months or so. When I came out of the coffin, I'd probably have been in the same boat. You should have seen my face the first time Nik took me shopping.

Everything was so bloody short and tight. [Rebekah snorted a quiet laugh. ]

But you acclimate.

[deathlessness]

[She laughs softly before nodding.]

I am right there with you. But I can't say I mind the fact trousers for women are much more in fashion. The skirts we used to have to wear were ridiculous.

hijacking Derek's loft because why not.

As much as her parents seemed to approve of her ....apparently dating Scott, even when she wasn't in fact dating him, because that had been a weird sort of complicated thing. He was cute sure, but she'd also seen the way he'd watched Allison.

And then she'd died in his arms, which had kind of slammed a lid on that anyway. And Malia coming to school had more or less necessitated they try to help her catch up on things she'd missed.

Granted, this wasn't quite what the school had meant, but mid-terms were over, not that she'd had to take them, and Kira had brought a stack of dvds and her laptop to what had been Derek's loft before he'd left town again.

Not that she really knew him all that well, but Scott had had a key.

And the fridge still had drinks in it, which she'd checked on and added a case of Pepsi to the mix.

So it was more or less just waiting now.

Malia isn't really sure how important her pop culture education is, exactly, but it seemed to be very important to Stiles. When they started hanging out after he got Malia into the pack he immediately sat her down to watch the entirety of Star Wars, only stating that it was very important and that she pay attention.

Malia didn't complain at the time because she liked spending time with Stiles, but she didn't really get it either. Everything was out of order and she has a feeling she will probably never watch it again.

(Honestly, she would have rather been making out. But Stiles didn't really seem as into that as he was back in Eichen House. Which was fine, whatever, but a little bit of a bummer.)

She makes her way into Derek's loft and she gives Kira a smile, before following up immediately with: "We don't have to watch Star Wars again, do we?"

[onetailed]

"No Star Wars, I promise." Kira glanced up and gave her a grin before she settled on the couch with her laptop on the table in front of him.

"Although Derek apparently doesn't have a tv, so it's just going to be my laptop." And a stack of Doctor Who dvds, mixed in with some movies. "It's not quite as much of a staple these days, unless you're into that sort of thing. Not that they're bad movies, but if you're not a fan, that's fine.

Scifi isn't for everyone. "

She shrugs as she moves to plop down on the couch next to her, leaning back and shifting a bit to get comfortable. Couches are still weird and the instinct to curl up into a ball is there, but she's not as flexible as she used to be, so she's working on figuring out the human equivalent.

"It's not the sci-fi part. I just ... didn't get why I had to watch four, five and six before I watched one, two and three. That doesn't make any sense."

[onetailed]

"I know it's weird, but those came first and they're generally considered the better part of the whole series." Kira shrugged a shoulder before glancing over at her.

"I like Star Wars, but I'm not really the best person to explain all the details. That's more Stiles' thing. I figured we'd try some Doctor Who or some of the zombie movies I had lying around."

Zombie movies are good. Action movies in general are usually pretty good. But she's curious about this "Doctor Who" and what that entails.

"What's Doctor Who?"

"It's ...well it's Doctor Who. Basically an alien who uh....travels in time and space and kind of takes random people along for varying periods of time. Just... you'll see." She put one of the DVDs in before shifting to settle back on the couch once she'd hit play.

"There are four different incarnations in the current run though. We're starting with Nine."

There's a very long pause as she considers all of that, before wrinkling her nose and turning to face her. "Are we starting in the middle again?" Because you can see how that didn't work out well for her the last time.
