[Hell yeah she is. But as fantastic as the sex had been, it had also been bad. In so many ways. He doesn't particularly want to tell Katherine about any of that, though. What he and Buffy have now, the trust and friendship and affection, is so much nicer.]

[Now Spike looks almost amused.] There are other benefits. Don't expect you'd understand.

[He tilts his head, considering. What does he get out of this? He doesn't really do it for himself, so it's hard to say.]

Her trust. That's worth everything. [More than he deserves, and he'd do it regardless, but he doesn't know how to put that feeling into words.]

[His smirk fades a little and he looks at her more thoughtfully. To not understand at all how her trust could be enough?]

[She gives him a look.]

I understand trust Spike. I'm not a moron. I just don't understand why you would want hers.

[she pauses for a moment, tipping her head to the side.]

Unless you're getting it to kill her, which considering the way you're toting it like it's some kind of prize, I doubt it.

I'd never hurt her. [Not again. Not anymore.] She... means a lot to me. [Understatement of the century.]

[Katherine stares at him for a moment.]

Oh, don't tell me you're in love with her.

[bigbad]

All right, I won't tell you. [But that doesn't make it less true.]

Really? The Slayer? Do you have any survival instinct at all?

[bigbad]

Last I checked, survival instinct doesn't have a thing to do with who you fall for. [And her ability to kill him on a whim is part of what attracted him to her.

...no, he does not have any survival instinct at all. We're all amazed he's not dust.]

Maybe not. But it does effect how you deal with it.

[He smirks a little.] Doubt you'd think much of my methods.

Probably not, considering she still isn't dead yet.

[She scoffs.]

You used to have such the reputation.

[He turns towards her, eyes glinting dangerously.]

Still have a reputation, pet. And if you try and harm her, you'll find out why.

Oh? Do enlighten us. [He tilts his head, eyeing her.] Who's the real threat?

Never heard of him.

He's an Original. And a hybrid. Meaning he's very, very hard to kill and can probably snap your Slayer in half like she's a toothpick.
